Marietta AT A GLANCE

Marietta is the county seat for Cobb and has a delightful downtown square with festivals, restaurants, theater and quirky shops. Just outside downtown is the best of suburban life, including top education, parks, and sports complexes.

Marietta is only 18 miles northwest of Atlanta and is known for its southern hospitality, arts and culture, parks and recreation, and historic sites. Anchored by Glover Park on the historic square, Marietta hosts many festivals and concerts throughout the year. Surrounding the square are unique shops, restaurants, live theater, and county government offices. The heart of the city is also home to beautiful antebellum homes with gorgeous southern landscapes. Local museums and historical sites include the Marietta Museum of History, Cobb County Youth Museum, Marietta Gone with the Wind Museum, Marietta National Cemetery, and Marietta Confederate Cemetery.

Beyond the city square, Marietta has a rich diversity of shopping, restaurants, entertainment, parks and recreation. Six Flags Whitewater park is in Marietta, as well as the landmark Big Chicken, a 56 foot tall chicken towering above the historic Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant. Marietta is also home to Navy and Marine Reserve units at Dobbins Air Reserve Base.

Just a few miles south of Marietta at I-75 and I-285, is Truist Park, home to the Atlanta Braves. Joining Truist Park is the destination known as The Battery Atlanta, an entertainment mecca with retail, restaurants, and bars, as well as the Roxy Theater.

Marietta real estate has many choices, with everything from live, work and play communities with condominiums and townhomes to suburban lifestyles with amenities like golf, pools, tennis, playgrounds and trails.

Why do we love Marietta?

A city full of history and pride.

Describe A Perfect Day in Marietta?

A morning visit to the farmers’ market on the square is always a treat. If the farmers’ market is not going on, I still like to go downtown and sit with a good book at the local cafe or by the fountain in the square if it’s a nice day. Sometimes I might even happen onto an art or food festival in the square. It seems like there is always something going on downtown. If it’s a really hot day, I would take the family to White Water and cool off on the slides. If the day isn’t so warm, I might decide to get artsy myself and paint some pottery or visit the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art to see what the professionals are up to. Lunch or dinner on the square is always a treat with tons of good local restaurants to choose from. After dinner I would catch a show at the refurbished Strand theater or listen to live music at one of the many local establishments.
