Two teams can both be Zillow partners and offer very different careers. One routes connections by software and lets you list from day one. Another keeps the best zip codes for the team leader and takes a brokerage split on top of the team split. The recruiting pitch won’t tell you which is which. Asking will.
When Zillow launched its partner program in Atlanta in November 2019, more than 500 local agents and teams were in it. Fewer than 50 remain. The teams still standing are the ones Zillow keeps choosing, and they treat the agents doing the work very differently.
Do I pay a brokerage split and a team split?
Many Zillow teams sit inside a bigger brokerage. You can owe the team a cut and the brokerage a cut on the same deal. Ask for one clear answer: what do you keep after everyone is paid?
How are connections routed?
Some teams hand out connections by zip code, price point or seniority, and newer agents get what’s left. Listen for a clear rule run by software, and a leader who isn’t competing with you for business.
Who talks to the buyer first?
On some teams, an inside sales agent takes the first call, builds the relationship and books appointments onto your calendar. Find out who makes first contact, who sets the appointment, and who pays for it.

How we answer
We’d rather be compared than pitched. Path & Post is the team and the brokerage, so there’s one split. Software routes connections, with no zip code or price limits in our 25-mile service area. You take the first call and set the appointment around your life. About a third of our business comes from Zillow. The rest comes from repeat clients, referrals from thousands of past clients, and our own website.
